What stage is Central Asian integration at? This was the main question of the webinar organized on June 8, 2020 by the Institute for Perspective and Security in Europe (IPSE) and the Diplomacy Center. During this event, an attempt was made to go beyond the “classical” understanding of the region – through the prism of the “Big International Players”: China, Russia, the USA, the EU – and consider exclusively the regional integration of the five countries.

We are more inclined to accept the idea that there is no integration as such (despite the efforts of the new president of Uzbekistan – Sh. Mirziyoyev – since 2017), and there are problems between the countries of the region and their number is growing. But is it really so? What are the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan striving for?

IFEAC brings to your attention a selection of documents, in French and in Russian, to go further on this subject.
